- 1 cup buttermilk

- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
- Pink and purple food coloring
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- ¼ cup heavy cream (for ganache)
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- Edible eyeballs (for decoration)
- Gory decorations (optional, for presentation)
Instructions
- Mix the dry ingredients in a large bowl.
- Whisk together the wet ingredients in another bowl and combine with the dry ingredients.
- Gradually mix in boiling water to create a smooth batter.
- Pour the batter into a brain-shaped cake pan and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- If using a round pan, trim and stack the cake halves to create a brain shape.
- Beat the butter and gradually add powdered sugar to make frosting, then divide and color with food coloring.
- Frost the cake with pink and purple frosting to mimic a brain.
- Prepare ganache and drizzle over the cake.
- Decorate with edible eyeballs and gory decorations.
