Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (226 g)
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed (220 g)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100 g)
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour (360 g)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips (170 g)
- 1 cup assorted Halloween candies, chopped (150 g)
- 1/2 cup additional candy pieces for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and chopped assorted Halloween candies.
- Pour the cookie dough into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Optionally, sprinkle additional candy pieces on top. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the cookie bars cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then lift them out using parchment paper (if used) and allow them to cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
Notes
- Use high-quality unsalted butter for the best flavor.
- Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
- For longer storage, freeze the bars wrapped in plastic wrap for up to three months.
- Experiment with different Halloween candies for unique flavors.
