Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Butter and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a separate bowl, combine 3/4 cup sugar, melted butter, buttermilk, vanilla, egg, and egg yolk. Mix until smooth.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
- Fold in the mashed bananas and sliced strawberries.
- To make the crumb topping, combine remaining 1/2 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup softened butter, and a pinch of salt. Mix until crumbly.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle crumb topping evenly over the top.
- Bake for about 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes before removing.
- Serve slices warm with whipped cream and extra strawberries if desired.
