Description

A stunning dessert that combines rich chocolate flavors with a whimsical spider web design, perfect for Halloween parties and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons ice water (more if needed)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate (70% cocoa), chopped
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 ounces white chocolate, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (optional, for smoothness)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tart crust by mixing flour, cocoa powder, sugar, and salt. Add cold butter and mix until crumbly.
  2. Stir in egg yolk and ice water until dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.
  3. Make the chocolate filling by simmering heavy cream, then adding chopped dark chocolate until smooth.
  4. Whisk together sugar, eggs, and vanilla, then combine with the chocolate mixture.
  5. Roll out the chilled dough and fit it into a tart pan. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Bake the crust with weights for 15 minutes, then remove weights and bake for another 10 minutes.
  7. Pour the chocolate filling into the cooled crust and bake for 20-25 minutes until set but jiggly.
  8. Cool the tart completely, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  9. Melt white chocolate and pipe a spider web design on top of the tart.
  10. Slice and serve chilled on a black plate for presentation.

Notes

  • Ensure butter is cold for a flaky crust.
  • Do not overbake the chocolate filling; it should be slightly jiggly.
  • Let the tart cool completely before adding the spider web design.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For gluten-free, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend.
