A delightful dessert combining tart cranberries and sweet apples, topped with a crunchy oat mixture.
Ingredients
- Fresh cranberries: 2 cups
- Tart apples: 3 medium (such as Granny Smith)
- Brown sugar: 3/4 cup, packed
- Ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
- Ground nutmeg: 1/4 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour: 1 cup
- Butter: 1/2 cup (1 stick), softened
- Rolled oats: 1 cup
- Salt: 1/4 teaspoon
- Baking powder: 1 teaspoon
- Milk: 1/4 cup (optional)
Instructions
- Wash the cranberries and remove any stems or damaged berries. Peel and slice the apples into thin wedges.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine cranberries, apple slices, 1/2 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Toss gently.
- In another bowl, mix flour, remaining brown sugar, oats, baking powder, and salt. Add softened butter and blend until crumbly. Optionally, stir in milk.
- Pour the fruit mixture into a greased 9-inch baking dish. Spoon the cobbler topping over the fruit.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown and bubbling. Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
- For a vegan version, replace butter with a plant-based alternative and use non-dairy milk.
