Ingredients
- Angus beef steak – 1 lb (450 g)
- Soy sauce – 1/4 cup (60 ml)
- Fresh ginger – 1 tablespoon, grated
- Garlic – 3 cloves, minced
- Scallions – 1/4 cup, chopped (green parts only)
- Sesame oil – 2 tablespoons (30 ml)
- Black pepper – 1 teaspoon (or to taste)
- Honey – 1 tablespoon (15 g)
- Olive oil – 1 tablespoon (for searing)
- Optional garnish: Additional scallions and sesame seeds
Instructions
- Select a well-marbled Angus steak cut (ribeye, sirloin, or tenderloin).
- Combine soy sauce, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, honey, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Marinate the steak in the mixture for at least 30 minutes, up to 2 hours.
- Remove the steak from the marinade and let it sit at room temperature for 15 minutes.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the steak for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
- Let the steak rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing against the grain.
- Serve with any remaining marinade drizzled on top and garnish with scallions and sesame seeds.
