Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (120 g)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (113 g), melted and slightly cooled
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (100 g)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup pumpkin puree (120 g)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease the madeleine pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt.
- In a larger bowl, mix the melted butter and sugar until combined, then add eggs one at a time, whisking well.
- Stir in the pumpkin puree and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Fill each madeleine mold about two-thirds full with batter.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown and springy to the touch.
- Cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Use 100% pure pumpkin puree, not pumpkin pie filling.
- Ensure the batter is thick but pourable; add a splash of milk if too thick.
- Experiment with additional spices like allspice or cardamom for unique flavors.
- Chocolate chips can be added for a delicious variation.
