Pumpkin fudge is a delightful treat that combines the rich flavors of pumpkin with the sweetness of fudge, perfect for fall gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Pumpkin puree: 1 cup (canned or homemade)
  • Sweetened condensed milk: 1 can (14 oz or 396 g)
  • Unsalted butter: 1/2 cup (1 stick or 113 g)
  • Brown sugar: 1 cup (packed)
  • Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
  • Pumpkin pie spice: 2 teaspoons
  • Chopped pecans: 1/2 cup (optional)
  • Chocolate chips: 1/2 cup (optional)
  • Sea salt: to taste (optional)
  • Maple syrup: to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your workspace by gathering all ingredients and tools, and line an 8-inch square baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat, then add the packed brown sugar and stir until combined.
  3. Add the pumpkin puree and sweetened condensed milk to the saucepan, stirring continuously for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and bubbling.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and pumpkin pie spice until well mixed.
  5. Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly. If using, sprinkle chopped pecans on top.
  6. Let the fudge cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for 2-3 hours until firm.
  7. Once set, lift the fudge out using the parchment paper and cut into squares or rectangles for serving.

Notes

  • Be careful not to overheat the mixture to avoid graininess.
  • Measure ingredients accurately for the best results.
  • Allow the fudge to chill properly for the right consistency.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
