Description

A delightful pumpkin cinnamon rolls recipe that captures the essence of fall with fluffy dough infused with pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg, topped with cream cheese frosting.

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour: 4 cups (plus extra for dusting)
  • Canned pumpkin puree: 1 cup
  • Brown sugar: 1/2 cup (packed)
  • Ground cinnamon: 2 teaspoons
  • Ground nutmeg: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Active dry yeast: 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet)
  • Milk: 1 cup (warm, about 110°F or 43°C)
  • Butter: 1/4 cup (melted, plus extra for greasing)
  • Eggs: 2 large
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Brown sugar (for filling): 1/2 cup
  • Ground cinnamon (for filling): 2 teaspoons
  • Ground nutmeg (for filling): 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cream cheese: 8 oz (softened)
  • Powdered sugar: 2 cups
  • Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by combining warm milk and active dry yeast in a small bowl and letting it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Make the filling by mixing brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small bowl and set aside.
  3. Roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Brush the rolled-out dough with melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over it. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  5. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover with a kitchen towel, and let them rise for another 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Prepare the cream cheese frosting by beating together softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  7. Once the rolls are out of the oven, let them cool for 10 minutes, then frost generously and serve warm.

Notes

  • Ensure your yeast is fresh for the best rise.
  • Measure flour correctly to avoid dry dough.
  • Avoid over-kneading the dough to keep it fluffy.
  • Don’t skip the second rise for airy rolls.
  • Store leftover rolls in an airtight container.
