A delightful treat that combines the rich flavors of chocolate and the warm essence of pumpkin, perfect for the cozy autumn season.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (240 ml) pumpkin puree
- 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (120 ml) vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (50 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup (90 g) chocolate chips (optional)
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) baking pan by greasing it and lining it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, granulated sugar, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and creamy.
- In another bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Gradually add this to the pumpkin mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
- Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly. Add dollops of the remaining batter on top and swirl the two batters together using a knife or toothpick.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
- Once baked, let the brownies cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then lift them out using the parchment overhang and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

- Use quality pumpkin puree for the best flavor.
- Check baking times as they may vary based on your oven.
- For gluten-free, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend.
