Ingredients
- Whole turkey: A 12-14 lb turkey
- Bread stuffing: 4 cups of cubed bread
- Celery: 1 cup of diced celery
- Onion: 1 cup of diced onion
- Garlic: 4 cloves of minced garlic
- Fresh herbs: 2 tablespoons each of chopped sage and thyme
- Butter: 1/2 cup of softened butter
- Salt and pepper: 2 teaspoons of salt and 1 teaspoon of pepper
- Chicken broth: 2 cups of chicken broth
- Fruits: Chopped apples or cranberries (optional)
- Nuts: Walnuts or pecans (optional)
- Spices: Nutmeg or cinnamon (optional)
- Vegetables: Carrots or bell peppers (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the turkey by removing giblets and neck, rinsing, patting dry, rubbing with olive oil, and seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Make the stuffing by sautéing onion, celery, and garlic in butter, then mixing with bread, herbs, salt, pepper, and chicken broth.
- Loosely stuff the turkey cavity with the prepared stuffing.
- Truss the turkey and season it again with salt and pepper.
- Roast the turkey breast-side up at 325°F (165°C) for 2.5 to 3 hours, basting every 30-45 minutes.
- Once done, let the turkey rest for 20-30 minutes before carving and serving.

- Do not pack the stuffing too tightly.
