Ingredients

- Butter: 1 cup (unsalted, melted, about 227 g)
- Eggs: 2 large
- Vanilla extract: 2 teaspoons (about 10 ml)
- Baking soda: 1 teaspoon (about 5 g)
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon (about 3 g)
- Chocolate chips: 1 cup (about 170 g)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry oat mixture to the wet ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
- If using optional add-ins, fold them in along with the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the bars cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares or rectangles.
