- 397 grams sweetened condensed milk (1 can)
- 100 grams light brown sugar
- 100 grams unsalted butter (for caramel layer)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 200 grams dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa), chopped
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (for chocolate topping)
- Sea salt (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the base by crushing the digestive biscuits and mixing with melted butter. Press into a lined baking pan and refrigerate.
- Make the caramel layer by combining sweetened condensed milk, light brown sugar, and butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until thickened, then add vanilla extract and pour over the base.
- Prepare the chocolate topping by melting dark chocolate and butter together until smooth.
- Pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer, sprinkle with sea salt if desired, and refrigerate until set.
- Once set, lift the bars out of the pan, cut into squares, and serve.
