  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (to dot)

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, salt, and sugar for the crust, then work in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Gradually add ice water until dough holds together. Divide into two discs, wrap, and refrigerate for at least an hour.
  3. Prepare the filling by combining sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch.
  4. Roll out one disc of dough and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan. Add the apple filling and dot with butter.
  5. Roll out the second disc, place it over the pie, and crimp the edges. Brush with an egg wash.
