Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- In another bowl, cream softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time to the creamed mixture, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Mix in the milk, then gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
- Fold in the grated apples and chopped walnuts until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Optional: Sprinkle the top with brown sugar, cinnamon, and extra walnuts.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
