Description

This rich and creamy Mocha Chocolate Pudding Pie combines chocolate and coffee flavors in a delectable dessert with a crunchy Oreo crust and a dreamy espresso whipped cream topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 22 regular Oreo cookies
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons espresso powder
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon espresso powder
  • 1 teaspoon warm water
  • 1 cup cold heavy cream
  • 3 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder (optional)
  • Chocolate curls for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Crush the Oreo cookies into fine crumbs and mix with melted butter. Press into the bottom and sides of a pie dish and bake for 10 minutes. Let it cool completely.
  2. In a bowl, whisk egg yolks and cornstarch until combined. In a saucepan, combine milk, heavy cream, sugar, and salt. Heat until simmering, then gradually whisk into the egg mixture. Return to the saucepan and cook while whisking until thickened, about 1 minute.
  3. Remove from heat and whisk in softened butter, chopped chocolate, espresso powder, and vanilla extract. Allow to cool before pouring into the cooled crust. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4-6 hours or overnight.
  4. To make the whipped cream, mix 1 teaspoon espresso powder with warm water. Whip 1 cup cold heavy cream until soft peaks form, then fold in confectioners’ sugar, cocoa powder (if using), and the espresso mixture. Spread the whipped cream on top of the pie and garnish with chocolate curls if desired.

Notes

If you want a richer flavor, chill the pie overnight. Ensure your bowl and beaters are cold when whipping cream for better results.
