Description
Mini fruit galettes are simple yet elegant pastries filled with seasonal fruits, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- Flaky Pie Crust or All Butter Pie Crust: 2 1/2 cups
- Mixed Berries or Other Fruit: 2 1/2 cups
- Cornstarch: 1 tablespoon
- Granulated Sugar: 2 tablespoons
- Lemon Juice or Vanilla Extract: 1 teaspoon
- Whole Milk: 2 tablespoons (for brushing)
- Optional: Coarse sugar and/or chopped sliced nuts for topping
Instructions
- Prepare the Pie Dough: Make the pie dough the night before and chill it in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Prepare the Filling: Gently stir mixed berries with cornstarch, granulated sugar, and lemon juice (or vanilla extract) in a bowl and refrigerate.
- Roll Out the Dough: Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to make rounds about 12 inches in diameter, then cut smaller rounds (5-6 inches).
- Assemble the Galettes: Preheat oven to 375°F, spoon fruit filling into the center of each dough round, fold edges over, and brush with milk.
- Chill the Shaped Galettes: Refrigerate the assembled galettes for at least 20 minutes.
- Bake the Galettes: Place galettes on baking sheets and bake for 25-28 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Let them cool for 5 minutes before serving; enjoy warm or cool.
Notes
Serve warm or with a scoop of ice cream for best results. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
