Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 and 1/4 cups finely chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple extract (optional)
  • Confectioners’ sugar (optional, for dusting before serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by combining flour, sugar, and salt in a food processor. Add butter and cream cheese and pulse until dough forms.
  2. Chill the dough for at least 2 hours wrapped in plastic wrap.
  3. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease mini muffin pans.
  4. Roll dough into balls, place in muffin cups, and press down in the center.
  5. Prepare the filling by whisking together eggs, brown sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt in a medium bowl. Fold in walnuts.
  6. Fill each dough shell with the mixture, being careful not to overfill.
  7. Bake for 18-22 minutes until edges are golden brown and filling is set.
