Description

A delightful recipe for Maple Spice Biscotti that combines the warm flavors of maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg, perfect for dipping in coffee or tea.

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour: 2 cups (240 g)
  • Baking powder: 1 teaspoon (5 g)
  • Ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon (2 g)
  • Ground nutmeg: 1/2 teaspoon (1 g)
  • Brown sugar: 3/4 cup (150 g), packed
  • Maple syrup: 1/2 cup (120 ml)
  • Eggs: 2 large
  • Sliced almonds: 1/2 cup (75 g), toasted
  • Salt: 1/4 teaspoon (1 g)

For the maple glaze, you will need:

  • Powdered sugar: 1 cup (120 g)
  • Maple syrup: 2 tablespoons (30 ml)
  • Milk: 1-2 tablespoons (15-30 ml)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the brown sugar and eggs together until well combined, then add the maple syrup and mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined, then fold in the toasted sliced almonds.
  5. Divide the dough into two equal halves and shape each half into a log about 12 inches long and 2 inches wide. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and firm to the touch.
  7. Let the logs cool for about 10 minutes, then slice diagonally into 1/2-inch thick pieces and place back on the baking sheet, cut side up.
  8. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until dry and crisp, then cool completely on a wire rack.

  • Store biscotti in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
