Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 2 cups (240 g)
- Baking powder: 1 teaspoon (5 g)

- Brown sugar: 3/4 cup (150 g), packed
- Maple syrup: 1/2 cup (120 ml)
- Eggs: 2 large
- Sliced almonds: 1/2 cup (75 g), toasted
- Salt: 1/4 teaspoon (1 g)
For the maple glaze, you will need:
- Powdered sugar: 1 cup (120 g)
- Maple syrup: 2 tablespoons (30 ml)
- Milk: 1-2 tablespoons (15-30 ml)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the brown sugar and eggs together until well combined, then add the maple syrup and mix until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined, then fold in the toasted sliced almonds.
- Divide the dough into two equal halves and shape each half into a log about 12 inches long and 2 inches wide. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and firm to the touch.
- Let the logs cool for about 10 minutes, then slice diagonally into 1/2-inch thick pieces and place back on the baking sheet, cut side up.
- Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until dry and crisp, then cool completely on a wire rack.
