- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- 2–3 tablespoons cold water
- 3 ripe pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup pecans, halved
- ½ cup maple syrup
- ¼ cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Prepare the tart crust by mixing flour, sugar, and salt, then adding butter until crumbly. Stir in egg yolk and cold water, then refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Make the filling by combining sliced pears, maple syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, and vanilla in a bowl.
- Peel, core, and slice the pears, then add them to the filling mixture.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and roll out the chilled dough to fit a 9-inch tart pan. Transfer the dough to the pan and prick the bottom.
- Pour the pear filling into the crust, scatter pecans on top, and bake for 25-30 minutes until the pears are tender and pecans are toasted.
- Allow the tart to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Choose ripe but firm pears for the best texture.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to three days.
- Can be frozen for up to three months; thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.
