Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- ½ cup maple syrup
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare a 9×9-inch baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and packed brown sugar until smooth and creamy. Add the maple syrup and vanilla extract, mixing well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped pecans until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bars cool for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into rectangular bars.
Notes
- For a gluten-free option, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend.
- Consider toasting the pecans before adding them to enhance their flavor.
- Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
