Description

Maple Pecan Pear Blondies are a delightful dessert that combines the rich flavors of maple syrup, crunchy pecans, and sweet, juicy pears, offering a chewy texture and a unique flavor.

Ingredients

  • Unsalted butter: 1/2 cup (113 grams), melted
  • Brown sugar: 1 cup (200 grams), packed
  • Maple syrup: 1/4 cup (60 ml)
  • Eggs: 2 large
  • All-purpose flour: 1 cup (125 grams)
  • Baking powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Chopped pecans: 1/2 cup (60 grams), toasted
  • Diced pears: 1 cup (about 2 medium pears)
  • Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
  • Salt: a pinch

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare an 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter and brown sugar, whisk until smooth, then stir in maple syrup and vanilla extract, followed by the eggs one at a time.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined, then fold in the diced pears and toasted pecans.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the edges are golden brown and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Let the blondies cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • Choose ripe but firm pears, such as Bartlett or Bosc.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days or refrigerate for up to a week.
  • For gluten-free, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend.
  • For vegan, replace eggs with flaxseed meal or applesauce and use plant-based butter.
