Description

Maple Oatmeal Crisp Bars are a delicious and wholesome treat that combines the goodness of oats with the rich flavor of maple syrup. These bars are perfect for breakfast, a snack, or even a dessert.

Ingredients

  • Rolled oats: 2 cups (about 180 g)
  • Maple syrup: 1/2 cup (about 120 ml)
  • Brown sugar: 1/2 cup (packed, about 100 g)
  • Butter: 1/2 cup (unsalted, about 115 g, melted)
  • All-purpose flour: 1 cup (about 120 g)
  • Ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
  • Salt: 1/4 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare an 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  4. Pour the melted butter and maple syrup into the bowl with the dry ingredients.
  5. Mix everything together until the oats are evenly coated and the mixture is crumbly.
  6. Press about two-thirds of the oat mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking pan and bake for 15 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining oat mixture over the baked base, press down gently, and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Let the bars cool completely on a wire rack before cutting them into squares or rectangles.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend and ensure oats are certified gluten-free.
  • Feel free to add nuts, seeds, or dried fruits to customize your bars.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
