- 400 grams diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 50 grams grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Cook the bow tie pasta in salted boiling water according to package instructions (10-12 minutes) until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Remove casing from the Italian sausage, crumble it into the skillet, and cook until browned (5-7 minutes).
- Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in diced tomatoes and stir. Allow to simmer for 5 minutes, then return the cooked sausage to the skillet.
- Stir in chopped basil and red pepper flakes, season with salt and pepper, and add reserved pasta water if needed.
- Add the drained bow tie pasta to the skillet and toss until well coated. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
- Plate the pasta, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese, and garnish with extra basil leaves. Serve warm.
