Description
A sweet and chewy candy made from sugar, corn syrup, and saltwater.
Ingredients

- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt in a saucepan.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Bring to a boil without stirring until it reaches 250°F (hard ball stage).
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and food coloring.
- Pour onto a greased surface and let cool for a few minutes.
- Once cool enough to handle, stretch and fold the taffy until it becomes glossy.
- Cut into pieces and wrap in wax paper.
Notes
- Be careful when handling the hot mixture.
- Store taffy in an airtight container.
- You can experiment with different flavors and colors.
