Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup (for a vegan option)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt or dairy-free yogurt
- 2 large eggs or flax eggs (if vegan)
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your muffin tin with muffin liners or cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, combine whole wheat flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix thoroughly.

- Spoon the batter evenly into the muffin tin, filling each liner about two-thirds full. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Avoid overmixing the batter to ensure fluffy muffins.
- Be precise with measurements to avoid changes in texture.
- Rest the batter for 10 minutes before baking for better texture.
