Description
Healthy Apple Crumble is a wholesome version of the classic dessert, packed with fiber and nutrients, offering a sweet and crunchy treat without the guilt.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium-sized apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 2 tablespoons of honey or maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
- 1 cup of rolled oats
- 1/2 cup of almond flour or whole wheat flour
- 1/4 cup of coconut oil or unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup of chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Wash, peel, core, and slice the apples. Place them in a large bowl, then drizzle with lemon juice, honey or maple syrup, and cinnamon. Toss to coat evenly.
- Transfer the apple mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
- In a separate bowl, combine oats, almond flour, melted coconut oil or butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until crumbly. Add chopped nuts if desired.
- Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples in the baking dish.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and apples are bubbly.
- Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a dairy-free option, use coconut oil instead of butter.
- If you prefer a gluten-free version, use gluten-free oats and a gluten-free flour substitute.
- Use firm, tart apples for the best texture and flavor.
- For extra crunch, broil the topping for a few minutes at the end of baking, but keep a close watch to prevent burning.
