Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the wet ingredients: eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
- Carefully stir in the boiling water until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the cupcake liners, filling each about two-thirds full. Bake for 18-20 minutes, checking with a toothpick for doneness.
- Let the cupcakes cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Beat until fluffy and add green food coloring to desired shade.
- Once the cupcakes are cool, frost them with the green buttercream, sprinkle with edible glitter, and decorate with candy eyes and chocolate spiders.
