Ingredients

  • Ground beef: 1 lb (450 g)
  • Corn tostada shells: 8 pieces
  • Refried beans: 1 can (15 oz or 425 g)
  • Shredded lettuce: 2 cups
  • Diced tomatoes: 1 cup
  • Avocado: 1 medium, diced
  • Shredded cheese: 1 cup (cheddar or Mexican blend)
  • Sour cream: 1/2 cup
  • Salsa: 1 cup
  • Olive oil: 1 tablespoon
  • Salt and pepper: to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add olive oil.
  2. Add ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 7-10 minutes, breaking it into small crumbles.
  3. If making homemade tostada shells, preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake corn tortillas for 5-7 minutes until crispy.
  4. Spread a layer of warm refried beans on each tostada shell.
  5. Add a portion of cooked ground beef on top of the beans.
  6. Layer shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced avocado, and shredded cheese on top.
  7. Drizzle sour cream and add salsa on each tostada. Optionally, sprinkle with chopped cilantro.
