Description
Focaccia is a flat oven-baked Italian bread, similar in style and texture to pizza dough. It can be seasoned with various toppings.

- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- Sea salt for topping
- Fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme) for topping
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle yeast on top and let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Transfer the dough to a greased baking sheet and press it out to fit.
- Make dimples in the dough with your fingers and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle sea salt and herbs on top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Let it cool slightly before slicing.
Notes
- Focaccia can be served warm or at room temperature.
- Experiment with different toppings like olives or sun-dried tomatoes.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container.
