Description

A delightful treat combining rich chocolate and bold coffee flavors, these espresso brownies have a fudgy texture and a hint of espresso that will impress anyone.

Ingredients

  • Dark chocolate: 200 grams (about 7 oz), chopped
  • Unsalted butter: 115 grams (1/2 cup), cubed
  • Granulated sugar: 200 grams (1 cup)
  • Brown sugar: 100 grams (1/2 cup)
  • Eggs: 3 large
  • Espresso powder: 2 tablespoons
  • All-purpose flour: 120 grams (1 cup)
  • Cocoa powder: 30 grams (1/4 cup)
  • Salt: a pinch
  • Powdered sugar: for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F).
  2. Grease and line an 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the chopped dark chocolate and cubed unsalted butter until smooth.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and brown sugar, then add the melted chocolate and butter mixture. Mix well, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the espresso powder.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt.
  6. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  9. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then lift them out using the parchment paper and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use high-quality dark chocolate for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of espresso powder based on your preference for coffee flavor.
  • Consider adding nuts or chocolate chips for extra texture.
  • For gluten-free options, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend or almond flour.
