Description
Creamy Orange Cake is a light and refreshing dessert made with orange cake, orange Jell-O, vanilla pudding, and whipped topping. It’s perfect for summer picnics, birthdays, or any festive gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package orange cake mix (15.25 oz)
- 1 package orange flavored Jell-O mix (3 oz)
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix (3.4 oz)
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon orange extract
- 1 container frozen whipped topping (8 oz), thawed
Instructions
- Preheat your oven according to the cake mix instructions and grease a 9×13 inch pan.
- Prepare the orange cake mix as directed on the box, pour it into the pan, and bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden brown.
- While the cake is still hot, use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the top.
- In a medium bowl, dissolve the orange-flavored Jell-O in 1 cup boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved.
- Pour the Jell-O mixture evenly over the hot cake, allowing it to soak into the holes. Let the cake cool completely.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and milk until thickened.
- Add the vanilla and orange extracts to the pudding mixture and stir to combine.
- Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.
- Spread the creamy topping evenly over the cooled cake.
- Cover and refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour before serving.
Notes
- Let the cake cool completely before adding the topping to prevent melting.
- Use fresh orange juice or zest for added citrus flavor.
- Be gentle when folding in the whipped topping to keep it airy.
- This cake can be made a day ahead and refrigerated until serving.
