Ingredients

  • Fresh shrimp: 1 lb (peeled and deveined)
  • Garlic: 4 cloves (minced)
  • Smoked paprika: 2 teaspoons
  • Heavy cream: 1 cup
  • Butter: 2 tablespoons
  • Olive oil: 1 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice: 2 tablespoons (freshly squeezed)
  • Fresh parsley: 1/4 cup (chopped)
  • Salt: to taste
  • Black pepper: to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the fresh shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and black pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until pink and opaque, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Remove shrimp from skillet and set aside.
  3. Add minced garlic to the same skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds. Sprinkle in smoked paprika and cook for another 30 seconds.
  4. Pour in heavy cream and lemon juice, stirring well. Bring to a gentle simmer and let thicken for about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet, gently stir to coat in the sauce, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes. Stir in chopped fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Fresh shrimp is preferred, but frozen shrimp can be used if thawed properly.
  • Adjust spice levels by adding cayenne pepper or reducing smoked paprika.
