  • Parmesan cheese: 1 cup, grated (plus extra for serving)
  • Black pepper: to taste
  • Fresh basil: a handful, chopped (plus extra for garnish)
  • Olive oil: 2 tablespoons
  • Salt: to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the cavatappi pasta in salted boiling water according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté minced garlic until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Lower the heat and add heavy cream to the skillet, stirring to combine. Simmer for 3-4 minutes to thicken.
  4. Gradually stir in grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Adjust the sauce consistency with reserved pasta water if needed.
  5. Add the cooked cavatappi to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly. Stir in chopped fresh basil.
