Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 2 cups (240 grams)
- Granulated sugar: 1/2 cup (100 grams)
- Baking powder: 2 teaspoons
- Baking soda: 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
- Ground cinnamon: 1 tablespoon
- Unsalted butter: 1/4 cup (60 grams), melted
- Buttermilk: 3/4 cup (180 ml)

- Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
For the cinnamon sugar filling:
- Brown sugar: 1/2 cup (100 grams)
- Ground cinnamon: 1 tablespoon
- Unsalted butter: 2 tablespoons (30 grams), softened
For the cream cheese icing:
- Cream cheese: 4 ounces (113 grams), softened
- Powdered sugar: 1 cup (120 grams)
- Vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon
- Milk: 2 tablespoons (30 ml), or as needed
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, combine the wet ingredients: melted butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Prepare your donut pan with cooking spray or butter. Fill each cavity halfway with batter.
- Mix the cinnamon sugar filling ingredients and add a dollop into each donut cavity.
- Cover the filling with the remaining batter, filling each cavity to about three-quarters full.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
- For the icing, beat the cream cheese until smooth, then gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla. Adjust consistency with milk.
- Drizzle the icing over cooled donuts and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar if desired.
