Description

Christmas Cookie Bars combine traditional Christmas cookie flavors into one easy-to-make bar. These chewy, festive bars are perfect for holiday celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans, optional)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional for a holiday twist)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups flour, 1 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (if using).
  3. In another bowl, beat 1 cup softened butter, 1 cup brown sugar, and 1/2 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add 2 eggs, one at a time, and 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in 2 cups chocolate chips and 1 cup chopped nuts (optional).
  5. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the bars cool for 15-20 minutes in the pan. Cut into squares once fully cooled.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the dough once the dry ingredients are added to avoid dense bars.
  • Check the bars before the timer goes off to avoid overbaking.
  • For a festive touch, sprinkle powdered sugar or drizzle melted chocolate over the bars before serving.
