Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup buttermilk (or milk)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional: 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a muffin tin by greasing or lining it with paper muffin liners.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk to combine.
- In another bowl, mix buttermilk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently. Fold in the chocolate chips and optional nuts.
- Spoon the batter into the muffin tin, filling each cup about two-thirds full. Optionally, sprinkle a few extra chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- Do not overmix the batter to avoid dense muffins.
- Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for better results.
