Ingredients
- Fresh broccoli florets: 500 grams (about 4 cups)
- Sharp cheddar cheese: 250 grams (about 2 cups), shredded
- Heavy cream: 240 ml (1 cup)
- Garlic: 2 cloves, minced
- Butter: 30 grams (2 tablespoons)
- Breadcrumbs: 100 grams (about 1 cup)
- Black pepper: to taste
- Salt: to taste
Instructions
- Wash the fresh broccoli florets thoroughly and cut them into bite-sized pieces.
- Steam or blanch the broccoli in boiling water for 3-4 minutes until bright green and slightly tender, then drain.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat and sauté the minced garlic for about 1 minute.
- Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer, then gradually add the shredded cheddar cheese, stirring until melted and smooth.
- Season the cheese sauce with salt and black pepper to taste.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the steamed broccoli with the cheese sauce, ensuring all florets are coated.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and prepare the breadcrumb topping by mixing breadcrumbs with melted butter.
- Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture over the top of the broccoli and cheese.
