Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- Melt 1 cup unsalted butter over low heat, then mix in 2 cups sugar. Let it cool slightly before adding 4 eggs, one at a time, mixing well. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
- Whisk together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, and ½ teaspoon salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined.
- For the cheesecake layer, beat 8 oz softened cream cheese with ½ cup sugar, 1 egg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla until smooth and creamy.
- Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Dollop spoonfuls of the cheesecake mixture over it and swirl with a knife. Pour the remaining brownie batter on top and swirl the cheesecake layer again.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs. Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
- Ensure your cream cheese is softened to avoid lumps in the cheesecake layer.
- Do not overbake the brownies. They will continue to cook slightly once out of the oven.
- Let the brownies cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing for the best texture.
