Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Melt 1 cup unsalted butter over low heat, then mix in 2 cups sugar. Let it cool slightly before adding 4 eggs, one at a time, mixing well. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  3. Whisk together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, and ½ teaspoon salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring just until combined.
  4. For the cheesecake layer, beat 8 oz softened cream cheese with ½ cup sugar, 1 egg, and 1 teaspoon vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  5. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Dollop spoonfuls of the cheesecake mixture over it and swirl with a knife. Pour the remaining brownie batter on top and swirl the cheesecake layer again.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs. Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
