Description

Char Siu Chicken is a delicious dish featuring tender chicken thighs marinated in a sweet and savory sauce, originating from Chinese cuisine.

  • 4 chicken thighs: Boneless and skinless
  • 1/2 cup char siu sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 3 cloves garlic: minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger: grated
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper: to taste
  • Green onions: chopped for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the chicken by mixing char siu sauce, honey, soy sauce, five-spice powder, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil in a bowl.
  2. Place chicken thighs in a resealable bag or dish, pour marinade over, seal, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  3. Prepare the Char Siu sauce by reserving some marinade before adding chicken; simmer reserved marinade for a thicker glaze if desired.
  4. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C), line a baking sheet with foil, and place a wire rack on top.
  5. Remove chicken from marinade, place on the rack, and bake for 25-30 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C); broil for 2-3 minutes for caramelization.
  6. Let chicken rest for 5 minutes, slice, and drizzle with remaining marinade or glaze; garnish with green onions.
  7. Serve warm with steamed rice or noodles.

  • Boneless, skinless chicken thighs are recommended for juiciness.
