Description

A delightful treat that combines the sweetness of blueberries with the warm flavor of cinnamon, perfect for breakfast or a cozy snack.

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour: 4 cups (plus extra for dusting)
  • Active dry yeast: 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet)
  • Granulated sugar: 1/2 cup (divided)
  • Milk: 1 cup (warm, about 110°F or 43°C)
  • Unsalted butter: 1/2 cup (melted, plus extra for greasing)
  • Eggs: 2 large
  • Blueberries: 1 cup (fresh or frozen)
  • Ground cinnamon: 2 teaspoons
  • Ground nutmeg: 1/4 teaspoon
  • Powdered sugar: 1 cup (for glaze)
  • Water: 2 tablespoons (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough by mixing warm milk with 1 tablespoon of sugar and sprinkling yeast over it. Let it sit until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine melted butter, remaining sugar, and eggs. Add the yeast mixture and stir until combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Gradually add to the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  4. Prepare the blueberry filling by mixing blueberries, cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of sugar in a small bowl.
  5. Punch down the dough, roll it out into a rectangle, spread melted butter, and sprinkle the blueberry mixture on top.
  6. Tightly roll the dough into a log and slice into 12 pieces. Place in a greased baking dish.
  7. Cover and let the rolls rise for 30 minutes, then preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Prepare the icing by whisking powdered sugar and water until smooth. Drizzle over cooled rolls.

Notes

  • Ensure yeast is fresh for proper activation.
  • Avoid over-kneading the dough to keep rolls soft.
  • Do not skip the second rise for fluffiness.
  • Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
