- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 1/2 cups fresh blackberries
- 1 whole lime (zest and wedges)
- 4 oz fresh lime juice
- 1 Tbsp granulated sugar (for rimming)
- 1 Tbsp kosher salt (for rimming)
- 8 oz blanco tequila
- 2 oz Cointreau
- Ice
- Fresh blackberries, for garnish
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine 1/4 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water. Bring to a boil, then add 1 1/2 cups blackberries. Mash and simmer briefly. Strain and chill syrup.
- Grate zest from the lime and mix with 1 Tbsp sugar and 1 Tbsp kosher salt. Rim glasses by wetting edges with a lime wedge and dipping in zest mixture.
- In a shaker, combine 1 cup chilled blackberry syrup, 8 oz tequila, 2 oz Cointreau, and 4 oz lime juice. Add ice and shake until cold.
- Divide the mixture among prepared glasses filled with ice. Garnish with fresh blackberries and lime wedges.

- Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor.
- Blackberry syrup can be prepared ahead and refrigerated.
- Top with club soda for a sparkling twist.
