Description
Blackberry Goat Cheese Puff Pastry Twists are elegant appetizers that combine the rich creaminess of goat cheese with the sweet-tart flavor of fresh blackberries, all wrapped in flaky puff pastry.
Ingredients
- Puff pastry: 1 sheet (thawed if frozen)
- Fresh blackberries: 1 cup (about 150 grams)
- Goat cheese: 100 grams (softened)
- Honey: 2 tablespoons (plus extra for drizzling)
- Fresh thyme: 1 tablespoon (chopped, plus extra for garnish)
- Egg: 1 (beaten, for egg wash)
- Salt: a pinch
- Black pepper: a pinch
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut it into strips about 1 inch wide and 6 inches long.
- In a small bowl, mix the softened goat cheese, honey, chopped thyme, salt, and pepper until creamy.
- Spread a thin layer of the goat cheese mixture along the center of each pastry strip and place a few blackberries on top.
- Fold the pastry over to encase the filling, press the edges to seal, and twist the pastry strip to create a spiral shape.
- Place the twists on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and brush the tops with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Drizzle with extra honey before serving.
Notes
- Use high-quality, all-butter puff pastry for the best flavor and texture.
- Consider adding lemon zest to the filling for a bright flavor.
- Experiment with different fillings like raspberry and cream cheese or spinach and feta.
