Description

The Black Margarita is a striking twist on the classic cocktail, blending tequila, lime, and triple sec with a dark, dramatic hue for festive flair.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 Tbsp black sanding sugar
  • 2 cups ice
  • 4 oz silver tequila
  • 2 oz triple sec
  • 1/3 cup lime juice
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • Green food coloring
  • Lime slices for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rub lime slice around the rim of each glass. Dip into black sanding sugar to coat.
  2. In a shaker, combine tequila, triple sec, and lime juice. Shake or stir to combine.
  3. Add 2 drops each of red, blue, and green food coloring. Stir and adjust as needed to reach a black color.
  4. Fill prepared glasses with ice and pour the cocktail mixture over.
  5. Garnish with lime slices and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Start with a few drops of food coloring and increase gradually to control the final color.
  • Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor.
  • Chill glasses ahead of time for a longer-lasting cold drink.
  • Store the mixture without ice and coloring if making ahead.
  • Avoid freezing, as texture may be compromised.
