Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (100 g) brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup (125 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup (40 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (180 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and softened butter until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then add the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set and the tops look slightly crinkled.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes for better shape retention.
- Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother dough.
- Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.
