Description
A homemade version of baked beans that tastes better than Bush’s.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups navy beans
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Soak the navy beans overnight in water.
- Drain and rinse the beans.
- In a pot, combine beans, 4 cups of water, and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour until beans are tender.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a baking dish, mix cooked beans with brown sugar, ketchup, onion, mustard, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Bake for 30 minutes until bubbly.
Notes
- Adjust sweetness by varying brown sugar.
- Add bacon for extra flavor.
- Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 5 days.
