Description
Banana Bars are a soft, cake-like treat that combines ripe bananas with a moist texture. Perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert, and easily customizable.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 ripe bananas (mashed)
- ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- ½ cup chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, mash the bananas until smooth. Add softened butter, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until creamy.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients. Fold in optional add-ins (walnuts or chocolate chips).
- Pour batter into the baking dish, spreading evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow bars to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into squares.
Notes
- Ensure bananas are very ripe for the best flavor.
- Mix the batter gently to avoid dense bars.
- For extra moistness, consider adding plain yogurt or sour cream to the batter.
