Description

Apple Maple Doughnuts are a delightful treat that combines the sweetness of apples with the rich flavor of maple syrup, perfect for breakfast or as a snack.

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour: 2 cups (240 g)
  • Baking powder: 2 teaspoons
  • Ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
  • Ground nutmeg: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Granulated sugar: 3/4 cup (150 g)
  • Eggs: 2 large
  • Milk: 1/2 cup (120 ml)
  • Grated apples: 1 cup (about 2 medium apples)
  • Maple syrup: 1/4 cup (60 ml)
  • Vegetable oil: 1/4 cup (60 ml) plus extra for frying

For the Maple Glaze, you will need:

  • Powdered sugar: 1 cup (120 g)
  • Maple syrup: 2 tablespoons (30 ml)
  • Milk: 1-2 tablespoons (15-30 ml)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your doughnut pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and granulated sugar.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and add the milk, grated apples, maple syrup, and vegetable oil. Mix well.
  4. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and fold gently until combined.
  5. Spoon the batter into the prepared doughnut pan, filling each cavity about two-thirds full.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let the doughnuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk until smooth.
  9. Dip the tops of the cooled doughnuts into the glaze and let set on a wire rack.

Notes

  • Choose sweet and slightly tart apples like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji for the best flavor.
  • Be careful not to overmix the batter to ensure fluffy doughnuts.
  • Store leftover doughnuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days.
