Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (204°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt together in a large bowl.
- Grate frozen butter into the dry mixture and combine until it resembles pea-sized crumbs. Refrigerate the mixture while preparing wet ingredients.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together heavy cream, egg, brown sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients over the dry mixture and add chopped apples. Gently mix with a spatula or hands until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently into a ball. Press into an 8-inch disc and cut into 8 wedges.
- Place scones on a lined baking sheet and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
- Brush tops with remaining heavy cream and sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
- Bake for 22–25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before drizzling with caramel sauce and serving.
