- Granny Smith apples: 3 medium (peeled, cored, and diced)
- Ground cinnamon: 1 teaspoon
- Ground nutmeg: 1/4 teaspoon
- Egg wash: 1 egg (beaten with 1 tablespoon of water)
Instructions
- Prepare the apple filling by mixing diced apples with sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Let sit for a few minutes.
- Make the dough by combining flour, sugar, and salt, then cutting in cold butter. Add cold water gradually until dough forms. Chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Assemble the hand pies by rolling out the dough, cutting circles, filling with apple mixture, sealing, and crimping edges.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- Choose Granny Smith apples for tartness.
- Do not overfill the pies to prevent bursting.
